One Racing, also known by its abbreviation ONE, is a Brazilian former GPGSL racing team. It was founded by team owner Rodrigo Vilela. The team entered the GPGSL in Season 8, taking over as a replacement after the suddenly end of Alpha Racing Team. It stayed in the series until Season 11 when Vilela decided to close the team to focus on being a driver only.

Racing History

Season 8

One Racing entered the GPGSL in Season 8 after the sunddenly shutdown of Alpha Racing Team. Team Owner Rodrigo Vilela was a driver for ART in the previous year, and kept his former teammate Carlos Rodríguez and his former boss Stefan van Renselaar as the main drivers for the season. Vilela would be joined by Austrian Rookie Tim Roedl as test drivers, the team was powered by Audi Engines and Pirelli tyres, while also boosting Coca-Cola and Sega as main sponsors. With such strong partners, the season was a huge success, the rookie team scored 480 points, to finish in 2nd place in the Constructors Championship, only behind reigning champions Aston Martin Racing. Roedl was dropped after the Brazilian Grand Prix, and an at the moment young and rookie Belgian driver called Marcus de Bruyker was hired. The season saw the first wins of the team, one by the hands of Van Renselaar at the San Marino Grand Prix, and the other by Rodríguez, his first victory in the series, at the Italian Grand Prix. They would score together seven podiums through the season, and Rodriguez finished in 3rd place in the Drivers Championship.

Season 9

For Season 9 the team kept all their sponsors and drivers, besides team owner Vilela, who decided to take a sabbatical year from driving, in his place the team hired Van Smirren Motorsports owner Ricardo van Smirren, who besides having an own team, decided to accept the invite because of season's 8 strong performance by ONE Racing. But this time the car was not even near as good as season 8, Rodríguez retired eight times during the season, which hurt any chances he and the team had of fighting in the championship. ONE Racing finished the championship only in 6th place, a huge drop compared to their debut season, the bright spot was the two wins De Bruyker had in the test sessions.

Season 10

With the retirement of Van Renselaar the team promoted De Bruyker to one of the main seats, as Rodríguez partner. Van Smirren was hired by Team Shadow. Vilela returned as one of the test drivers, this time partnered by Snake Motorsports former driver Connor Steer. Now powered by Michellin tyres, Season 10 started with a bang for ONE Racing, in the first four races, Rodríguez won in the Malaysian Grand Prix, while De Bruyker won at both the Pacific Grand Prix and Japanese Grand Prix, Rodríguez would win again in the Dutch Grand Prix later in the season. The team saw a huge bump in ther championship tables, finishing this time in 3rd place, only behind big guns Aston Martin Racing and Martini Paddock Racing. Steer was fired after the 10th round, and in his place the team managed to hire former Season 2 champion John Warrington.

Season 11

For Season 11 ONE lost their main driver, as Rodríguez was hired by Martini Paddock Racing, and they lost no time to promote Warrington to partner De Bruyker, Brazilian rookie Erick von Draxeler was hired as test driver. The season proved to be a difficult one, the team only won in one race, with Warrington in the Austrian Grand Prix, and during the middle of the season team owner Vilela announced he would close the team, and resume his driving career. ONE Racing finished with only the 6th place in the Constructors Championship, and Vilela was crowned the champion in the Testers Championship. A not so great end to an amazing team.

History in GPGSL-3

Despite being part of GPGSL history, One Racing was founded in 2006 with the creation of Rayco GP, headed at the time by Carl Turner and Rodrigo Vilela, they ran in an all white car.

The following year, was created GP32kOC (Actual GPGSL-3), in like manner with the current regulation of GPGSL. One Racing, of course, was the first registered team. Having Rodrigo Vilela and Ryan Gault as drivers, the team won the Drivers' Championship with Vilela.

In the following years, One Racing has always remained among the first placed, even winning the Constructors' Championship in two more opportunities: 2010 and 2014.
