Carlos Rodríguez (Montevideo, Uruguay, 20th Febraury 1994) is one of the newcomers for the 6th Season of the GrandPrixGames Superleague. He is currently driving as a Tester for ART Ford, scoring his first Free Practice win at the second round at Monza. He was also a testdriver for VTR Ford at the GPGSL-3 5th Season, where he has won four races (Japanese, Malaysian, Swedish and Australian GPs) and became champion at the final round.
Driving Style
Rodríguez has defined himself as a driver who "constantly looks for the edge, and finds it against a wall". He can cope with oversteering but understeering is a real problem for him. He does not like, however, sliding through a corner during a race, because "although it looks awesome, I'm out there racing with twenty-one other guys, and sliding or blocking a wheel are things for shows. In a race, you just lose time and punish the tyres. In a show, the crowd applauds you, and that's when I enjoy doing it."
Because of his excessive speed at corners, he is prone to crashing, but he learns from his mistakes: "I'm not Andrea de Cesaris. I just try to go as fast as I can. And it works."
Future in the GPGSL
He is to remain at ART, following his promotion to Main Driver, for Season 7 alongside Rodrigo Vilela, and he will be race driver for VTR at the GPGSL-3 6th Season alongside current champion Marcus de Bruyker.
